Hi Dave,
Finally got my turn on the dyno to run my 377 cleveland.
The final figures are 593.6hp at 7036rpm and 505.8 ft lbs at 5353rpm.
Premium unleaded 34 deg timing.
It made more tq with 850 mighty demon 511ft but less hp think it was 560-570hp its my mates carby any way so
didnt want to get to excited.
I guess now my mate Shane will be giving you a call.
His XA falcon just went 11.7@115mph 2v f-246cam.pump fuel
Will send you a dyno copy when I get a chance.
Thanks for all your help keep up the good work.

David,
How are you going?
My name is Brett Murphy, from Western Australia.
I have AFD 2v heads on a 378 clevo in a 71 ford capri street car. I recently upgraded my crane F238 to a AFD 2522M cam. With a converter to suite my time at the drags went from a 11.32 @ 119mph to a 10.9 @ 121mph.
This was on pump fuel through the exhaust. The exhaust is quiet and very restrictive (twin 2 1/4 into single 2 1/2). I now have to fit a roll cage and comply to super sedan standards.
I plan to drop the exhaust next time I race, and hopefuly replace my inlet manifold which is still a holley street dominator. As I have been more than happy with your heads and cam I am hoping your inlet manifolds will soon be ready.
I am currently making around the 400rwhp mark
Sorry for the long message, just wanted to let you know how well your products are doing even on engines with poor inlet and exhaust systems!

Regards

Brett Murphy

David,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the heads I purchased. You worked with me one on one to insure I had the right set
up for my motor.
I've got my motor together and it runs way above my expectations!
I'm running well over 600hp with the 2v Cleveland heads on my 393
Stroker and I've got power brakes without a vacuum pump!
I can't wait to surprise the Chevy boys this spring at the track!
Here is my set up for my 68 Cougar.
AFD 2v Heads
Edelbrock Air Gap Manifold
Mighty Demon 830 carb
Howard Camshafts - Solid Roller Cam/Lifters/Rockers/Girdle
MSD Ignition
4bbl headers
Ford AOD transmission (Modified with AOD Lockout and Stall converter)
4:54 True track

Anyway keep up the good work and I'll keep promoting your heads!

Thanks,

Marty Newfarmer

Dear AFD,

Through Glenn Everitt and Matt Jackson @ G & D PERFORMANCE , you were recommended to me for your headwork ( I also had read a write up in Street Machine,.....Bob Kotmel’s page ).

I am just writing to say how stoked I am with your work,..last weekend I took out the trophy for my bracket “ Super Street Slicks” at the LS1 street machine 2005 Drag Nationals ! These heads flow great, “ get it in , get it out !!! “ my thanks again,
regards
David McWaters

David,
Mate, happy as hell with the heads, mate they are a credit to you. You should be getting heaps of orders cause the interest they receive at the track is amazing.
The old girl run 11.5 at 118mph on its shake down pass off the trailer. We started to experiment with tyre pressures and had a loss/gain session.
The xe weighs 3700pds without me so by the calculator it is making 500 moroso hp with no tuning.
Next time out I will play with jetting to see if I can pick up something. what intake manifold do you recommend?
the Active seems ok but do you think anything is better.
Hopeing to crack 10's with the heavy full weight street car.
Got a few toranas up here that need to be tought a lesson.

Thanks Luke

Dave,

I have 2 engines with your heads on them.
1 is a 357 cleveland pump fuel street engine with a 750 dp holley,
AFD 2V out of the box heads,Yella Terra rockers, comp cams hyd roller cam (236 degree),4ma crank and eagle h-beam rods,KB pistons,10.8:1 comp ratio with 30 degrees timing using 1 7/8 Pacemaker 4 into 1 pipes.
It made 512 hp and 450 ft-pds of torque.

The 2nd engine is my 393 methanol carb engine.I was hoping for 650hp,but it made that easily and some more.
It has a 975 BG Alky Carb,TFC intake manifold with 2" spacer,AFD 2V alloy heads ported by AFD,Yella Terra rockers,Camtech solid roller cam, Scat 3.850" crank,Scat 6.0" rods,Arias forged pistons (14:1Comp),cleveland block with block filler half way,MSD ignition,26 degrees total timing and 1 7/8 Pacemaker 4 into 1 pipes.
It made 668hp and 562 ft-pds with a very broad power band.

Thanks for the great heads, excellent stuff !!!

Keep up the good work, will need a set of SP4V's next for injection.

Gday Dave,
My names nick from perth and Irecently swapped a set of ported cast iron 4Vs (no port tongues) for a set of your 4VR heads. I used the heads straight out of the box with no porting done. I left the rest of the combo the same so i could do a comparison of both cylinder heads performance with nothing else factoring the outcome.

Specs: 393ci cleveland, eagle 6' rods, forged flat top pistons 12:1comp, 264/274@50thou .675' lift crane solid roller, funnel web 4v manifold, 2'wilson spacer, 850 holley, pacemaker 1 7/8' headers.
both heads used 2.19' intake and 1.71' exhaust valves. 5000rpm convertor and 4.3 gears

The only thing I did change was the timing was dropped from 32 to 28 when using the alloy heads. Both run on 98 pump fuel.

4v irons= 10.93@122mph
4VR alloy= 10.69@125mph

great result for a 3385lbs xd falcon, im very pleased with your product and your service is great to

thanks, nick

Hi Dave,
Just to let you know the car is up and running and although I am breaking her in gently the torque feels awesome, I'm chuffed to bits, the heads are fantastic and have transformed the engine. I've currently got 10 deg. of initial timing but that is topping out at 34 total and I see you recommend 28 as being the optimum, should I back her off a little before I start giving it the beans, don't want to do any damage now she is running so sweet. I will be racing her next weekend for a shakedown at York Raceway, hope I can silence the sceptics!, will keep you informed,

Thanks again mate,
Ian

Hi Dave,
Sorry for the delay in replying but many electrical gremlins meant she did'nt run in anger until the end of July, so I missed the first two months of racing. You are a bloody marvel mate, I was a little sceptical when you said she would shock everybody by running a 12 second time but given a few more meetings before the end of the season and I believe she would have.
After carefully running her in she did a best of 14.7 with the standard exhaust (2 1/4 inch) and treads (lots of wheel spin off the line) with the 750 vac carb I put on initially, she then ran a 14.2 on slicks, that was at the Mopar Euro Nats at Santa Pod Raceway at the end of July.
As you suggested I then put the Proform 950 on and also a pair of 2 1/2 Flowmasters on the standard exhaust just in time for the U.K. Northern Nationals at York Raceway on the 2/3 August, she was flying, I qualified for the quarter finals of American Super Stock and made it to the final of Sportsman E.T. (Pole qualifier) where I won but ran TOO fast and broke out with a 13.75, still on stock exhaust manifolds. Check out the website report at www.sportsman-et.co.uk/news.asp?newsid=39
Next up was the Hot Rod Drags at Shakespeare County Raceway on Sept. 12/14, I had now fitted the headers and a shorty mandrel bent 2 1/2 exhaust to match the Flowmasters. I only managed 4 runs but she blitzed the previous time with a best of 13.23 at 100mph on a terrible track surface.
This last weekend was the U.K. Northern Finals at York Raceway where I got quite a few runs in as the weather was perfect, I did'nt go too far in the competitions (my fault, too eager and red lit) but the Torino was surprising everybody with it's performance and ran a best of 13.0118 @ 103.95 and was very consistent, no one wanted to be opposite me in the fire up lane but they all wanted to see what was under the bonnet! Not too shabby for a 4400lbs. tank.
Just got to find a couple of thou and she will crack that 13 bracket, what an engine, she thinks she's a big block with those AFD heads on, they are amazing. I keep correcting people who think they are AFR and I tell them no they are better than that they are AFD. I am like a dog with two tails at the moment.

Sorry if I have bored you with all my rantings, I am just so made up with the way the car has performed, better than I ever dreamt of, so now I'll bore you with the pictures as well! Thanks for everything and I will be planning another AFD motor over the winter, maybe for my friends race Maverick with it's asmhatic 393W engine.
Please feel free to use any of my ramblings as testimonials to those fabulous heads,

Thanks mate,
Ian O'Connor
